9 Routine Things That Increase Your Risk of Hemorrhoids Significantly

9 Routine Things That Increase Your Risk of Hemorrhoids Significantly

Hemorrhoid is a condition that causes veins at the lower end of your rectum and anus to swell. As veins swell the pressure on the walls of the veins increase. This increases the risk of irritation significantly. Hemorrhoids may be separated into two groups that are internal and external. Internal hemorrhoids found in the rectum while external arises in the anus.

There are many things that can trigger this condition. Hemorrhoids may appear because of straining on the toilet, pregnancy, or anal intercourse. There are up to 75% of people who experience hemorrhoids during their life. For this reason, it is so important to know things that may contribute to the development of this issue. Below are surprising 9 things that increase the risk of hemorrhoids significantly.

1. Sitting on the toilet too long

It sounds pretty nice to scroll a Facebook while going to the bathroom, but sitting in the toilet for more than five minutes may be a really bad idea. While you are sitting on the toilet your pelvic muscles naturally relax preparing for defecation. Being in such a state for too long may contribute to muscle loosening.

As a result of muscles loosening blood flows into the hemorrhoids increase. The more blood flows in the hemorrhoids the juicier they become. This increases the risk of hemorrhoids and can make your condition worse causing bleeding from anus.

2. Diet lack of fiber

Your diet may significantly increase or decrease your risk of hemorrhoids. A diet that includes poor amounts of fiber makes you prone to constipation. Constipation makes you strain more down there to push the stool. This puts additional pressure on the veins in the rectum and anal canal. This will eventually contribute to hemorrhoid formation.

3. Biking

Spending a lot of time on the bike can make you more prone to the formation of the hemorrhoids. While you riding a bike, a hard bike seat crammed your crotch leaning forward. This increases blood flow to the hemorrhoids and puts pressure that may reduce drainage of the juice. Putting yourself into a squatted position during a long period, you decrease the risk of hemorrhoids significantly.

4. Insufficient hydration

It is very important to stay hydrated if you want to decrease the risk of hemorrhoids. Dehydration will eventually cause constipation that is a risk factor for hemorrhoids. Lack of hydration can make the stool harder and complicates evacuation.

5. Obesity

Hemorrhoids is an issue that commonly affects individuals with obesity. Excess weight puts an additional pressure constricting the veins and blood vessels that surround your anus and colon. People with excess weight in the abdominal areas are even prone to developing hemorrhoids. Controlling your weight is very important to prevent this unpleasant issue.

6. Coughing and sneezing

While sneezing and coughing are unlikely to cause hemorrhoids they can really make your condition worse. Coughing and sneezing put additional pressure on the rectal area. If you already have a predisposition to hemorrhoids, straining your rectal area may further trigger the development of this condition.

7. Sitting on the couch too long

Almost all of us love to spend hours in front of the TV watching a new Netflix series and sitting around on the sofa. However, sitting for too long or not getting enough exercise can increase your risk of hemorrhoids. This can increase pressure on the veins while exercising and moving can decrease it. You need to be mindful while doing your exercises since overstraining may increase the chances of getting hemorrhoids.

8. Lifting heavy weights

Lifting heavy weights causes you to strain excessively. This may potentially develop hemorrhoids. Instead of pushing yourself to the point when you feel like you might explode, it is recommended to relax and don't strain too hard. Otherwise, you risk experience a pretty uncomfortable issue.
